Kimberly Walsh
Kimberly Walsh is an organic farmer, weaver, and human rights & eco-social justice advocate. She co-founded Wild Meadows Farm, which integrates organic practices, biointensive methods, and permaculture ethics and principles into the design and management of 200 acres of mixed forests, sloping meadows and cover cropped fields. She also serves as the Executive Director of the non-profit organization, Chesapeake Education, Arts, and Research Society (CHEARS), which uses education, arts and research as experiential learning tools to connect people to the Chesapeake Bay watershed.
Kim chose Gaia University for its flexibility, eco-centered approach to learning and support network of actionists. As a neo-rural settler, Kim is grateful for technology, which gives her the ability to connect to world-changers beyond her immediate physical community. Kim considers the collaborative work she does with Wild Meadows Farm, CHEARS, and other Gaia University associates as essential information and idea exchanges that drives forward a shared vision of generational solutions. She sees the capacity to see the sunrise and set, and the flowers bloom and fruit beyond our own lifecycles as the revelation of our times.
Gaia University sets a platform for life-long learning, design, and relationships. The teachers are the world, the forest, elders, animals and microbial life. How we chose to interact with these elements determines our value system. Gaia University is self-education, resourcefulness, skills and tools. It is about values and visions, systems of management and design that are based on a holistic understanding of our bio-ecological and psychosocial knowledge and wisdom.
