Learning Online with Gaia U

We recognize the challenge involved in climbing up the learning curve of digital literacy and invite you to come to the party with a sense of adventure, ready to be generously patient with our systems and yourself!

We'll take you through the essentials and do our best not to overwhelm you with features that you don't need to know about yet - instead we'll use a 'just in time - need to know' approach.

The Learning Online program is your essential orientation to Gaia U methods, systems and platforms. On our comprehensive e-learning site you will be logged-in to a course containing: -

  • reading materials,
  • invitations to interactive webcasts and
  • forums that you contribute to

The program blends three main styles: -

  • self-paced self-foraging - you work in your own time during each 2 week period and delve as deep and wide as you want,
  • community work in which we will all be online at the same time (the webcasts) and
  • group forums which deliver emails to your desktop as new contributions come in - including your own.

You will learn to use the core Gaia University systems and tools including how to use your e-portfolio space.

An e-portfolio is a mini-website of your own inside the Gaia University system that has 3 main functions: -

  • it acts as an archive of all your documentation,
  • it works as a presentation place for you to show your best work and
  • it is a place for group collaborations and networking.

At least one virtual meeting with your main advisor will take place during this online Orientation.

The program is designed to be practical and inspiring, and lays the foundations for you to thrive in our system and to build a lasting community of support for yourself.
