Life Review & Learning Design

This 2 element Certificate course starts with a thorough look backwards to your life and career so far (Life & Career Review). During this phase your story is outlined through a variety of methods such as 'critical incident review' and 'themed stories' some of which are generated through peer to peer interviews.

In the second phase you create your goals and learning intentions that will form a core, guiding template for your following pathway work (Learning Intentions & Pathway Design). We use several life-coaching tools for this work.

Working through the 2 elements will produce all the materials you need to create your first Output Packet and, as this work will be delivered and reviewed online, this Certificate will also enhance your online and documentation skills.

Online Life and Career Review (2 elements of 2 weeks each = 4 weeks)

During this 4 week period you will be gathering up materials that illustrate your experiential and other learning to date –and, of course, you are welcome to start this collection process ahead of the course. Then you'll be looking for the patterns and meaning in your rich life so far.

We introduce the tools of auto-ethnography to assist you in telling your story in a way that is structured for insight, descriptive of contextual influences and which shows how your story is a significant part of the making of his/herstory.

You will document your story using a Journal format that optionally  allows comments and responses from other people thus allowing you to, if you choose, have other significant people in your life also add their reflections. Your Journals are archived in your ePortfolio and can be set to private, visible only to a chosen few or made public. You can come back to them and add materials going on into the future.

Online Learning Intentions and Pathway Design (2 elements of 2 weeks each = 4 weeks)

Following the deep look at your past learning and unlearning as described above we guide you through a process of developing a learning intentions and pathway design. However, lest you think that this may obligate you to a certain and predetermined pathway, please note that the Gaia University approach is to be zestfully alert to the emerging fields of learning and unlearning that arise as you engage with life and projects. Thus you weave your intentional pathway in an ever flexible spiral.
